Conducttr has been developed to allow you to engage Audiences. Long term engagement demands:
- a good story
- a good experience (e.g. good participation and interaction)
- a social dimension such as fan-to-fan interaction or fan-to-Character interaction.

To help you achieve this we have developed a 4 step or 5 step process - depending on how particular you are about character development! For some short experiences there may be little or no character development and hence four step option might be more appropriate than five. The stages are shown in Figure 12.

Sometimes the idea for an experience comes before the story. In this case we might develop the participation somewhat and then create a story around the participation. Figure 13 shows the revised steps when starting with an idea for participation.

Figure 14 illustrates the idea that certain Audience actions or story points might be pre-determined or required and these are shown as red dots. These are constraints or goals; things in the story or the experience that must happen. For example, a character dies or the town floods; or the audience must check in at a store or the audience must tweet a code. With skill and creativity the story-experience evolves to hit these milestones at the right time. The diagram shows this story-experience development in the context of a three-act dramatic structure and a typical rising tension and eventual falloff at the resolution - this too must be taken into account.

In all cases the story and experience must come together during development and this will manifest as series of scenes.
